"Out There" (D300_85124)

"Out There" (D300_85124)

This is the aerial tram from Trockener Steg over the Unterer Theodulgletscher (Lower Theodul Glacier) on its way up to the Klein Matterhorn. The cable seen here is an unsupported span over 1.5 miles long and is truly a spectacular ride. The 360° views you get while riding in the tram are breathtaking and the photos you can get from that point of view are nice, but they don’t give you a sense of what it’s like to actually ride the tram. That’s what I love about this photo. It’s taken from solid ground at the top station and really communicates the sense of being “out there” flying alone over an alpine paradise.
